Mirae High School of Science & Technology Cafeteria Extension / Bare Ground Architects
Briefly

The architectural plan for the school's cafeteria expansion involved creating a vibrant and open space that fosters interaction between students and faculty while connecting seamlessly to the outdoors. Initially, it was proposed to place the kitchen in a low-ceilinged area; however, it was decided to position the cafeteria towards the playground to maximize natural light and views of Mt. Bulamsan. Design elements such as stairs, terraces, and clerestory windows were integrated to alleviate the low ceilings and enrich the spatial experience within the restaurant, ensuring it stays open and connected with nature.
The restaurant's design prioritizes natural connections with outdoor spaces, providing students and faculty with views of Mt. Bulamsan while promoting interaction.
To combat low ceiling heights, clerestory windows were introduced, enhancing light and ventilation, thus enriching the three-dimensional quality of the restaurant.
