Buffalo Trace Distillery is expanding its visitor experience by introducing the John G. Carlisle Cafe, set to open in Spring 2026. The café, located within the Elmer T. Lee Clubhouse, covers 4,900 square feet and can accommodate 70 guests. It will serve lunch, featuring a menu with sandwiches, salads, soups, and kid-friendly options, along with a limited cocktail menu highlighting select Buffalo Trace products. The café honors John G. Carlisle, a significant figure in bourbon history, with a commemorative plaque and stone from the original Carlisle Distillery.
The John G. Carlisle Cafe spans 4,900 square feet, with indoor and porch seating for 70 guests, primarily serving lunch with sandwiches, salads, and soups.
This new café allows us to connect with guests in a new way, blending our legacy of hospitality with a welcoming dining space that celebrates our history.
The café is named after John G. Carlisle, who championed the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, which set quality standards for American whiskey.
A commemorative plaque and original stone from the Carlisle Distillery will be relocated to the new café entrance, ensuring visitors connect with this important chapter in bourbon history.
