Eight years after the old ABC No Rio center on Rivington Street was demolished, a new four-story building funded by the City of New York, with $21 million towards the project, is being constructed to carry on its legacy.
The new structure will feature a kitchen, a free computer lab, a zine library, and environmentally friendly elements like a roof garden and energy-saving measures, honoring the center's history of artistic avant-garde performances and social activism.
