The Tiny Chinese Restaurant That Became an Olympic Hot Spot

For the past two weeks, his narrow restaurant, Yang Xiao Chu, has been transformed into a bustling, unofficial clubhouse for table tennis, a sport followed most fervently and practiced most successfully in China.
Chinese fans, many of whom travel the world following their favorite players, have packed the Olympic table tennis venue on a daily basis.
I didn't expect we would get this busy during the Olympics, Tang said one recent morning, before the lunch rush. I just look after them as if they were my family members.
Tang doesn't stress out about the lines in front of his restaurant. I tell my customers to have patience, that the dishes won't come out well if they're made in a rush, he said.
