Unlike both of these services, files stored within Proton Drive are end-to-end encrypted, which means third parties, including Proton itself, can't view your uploaded content.
The update will make it more convenient to back up your photos to the service, as you'll no longer have to upload all your recent pictures manually. Additionally, Proton Drive is getting a new 'Photos' tab that lets you scroll through all your pictures organized by the month they were taken.
