Microsoft is testing a new adaptive energy saver mode in Windows 11 to improve battery life for laptops. This feature automatically enables or disables the energy saver based on the device's workload. The standard energy saver mode dims the display by 30%, disables transparency effects, and pauses non-critical updates. Unlike the traditional mode, the adaptive energy saver will maintain screen brightness, making changes less noticeable. Currently being tested by Windows 11 Canary Channel users, it will not be available for desktop PCs. The main energy saver mode was made available for all PCs last year.
"Adaptive energy saver is an opt-in feature that automatically enables and disables energy saver, without changing screen brightness, based on the power state of the device and the current system load."
The new adaptive energy saver mode will automatically enable or disable based on your laptop's workload, improving battery life without noticeable changes.
