The Eleven11bot, a newly identified botnet consisting of approximately 30,000 webcams and video recorders, is responsible for delivering record-breaking denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, with peak data volumes reaching up to 6.5 terabits per second. Discovered by Nokia's Deepfield team in February, the botnet has sent staggering amounts of data to various targets, primarily affecting communications and gaming sectors. Notably, many devices in this botnet had not engaged in DDoS attacks before, highlighting the concerning trend of rapidly mobilizing networks for nefarious purposes.
At 30,000 devices, the Eleven11bot was already exceptionally large... Most of the IP addresses participating... had never been seen engaging in DDoS attacks.
Eleven11bot has targeted diverse sectors, including communications service providers and gaming hosting infrastructure, leveraging a variety of attack vectors.
