Parenthood is an abrupt and total upheaval. I realized that despite the weeks of preparation, the overwhelming feelings of care, responsibility, and anxiety kicked in once we took our baby home.
Upon leaving the hospital, nothing felt familiar or comfortable. Our apartment transformed; it no longer felt like our space, but rather unwelcoming and inadequate for our new life.
