Have You Seen This Pilgrim? Lost in the Throngs of the Kumbh Mela.
Briefly

During the Kumbh Mela, a significant Hindu festival, Draupadi Devi hoped to stay connected with her husband amidst the overwhelming crowd. This year’s auspicious Maha Kumbh intertwined with a rare celestial event attracted larger crowds. After participating in the holy dip, she found herself separated from her husband, losing both him and her pouch with his phone number. The festival operates a lost-and-found center, highlighting the challenges many attendees face in locating their loved ones amidst the throngs of pilgrims, devotees, and volunteers managing the logistical needs of the festival.
After her bath, as they made their way through the crowds, Ms. Devi lost sight of her husband, Umesh Singh. Gone, with him, was her pouch.
This year's version of the event is being called a Maha Kumbh, or Great Kumbh, because it coincides with a celestial alignment that takes place only every 144 years.
The multitude of pilgrims, devotees, seers and ascetics is even bigger than usual and even easier to get lost in.
Volunteers said the number of lost people could be overwhelming.
