Donna Henes, who dubbed herself an urban shaman, spent her life reminding New Yorkers of their connection to nature with seasonal rituals and ceremonies.
Her most notable contributions included mass egg-balancing rituals at the World Trade Center for the vernal equinox and winter solstice bonfires on Staten Island.
She recognized that in the fast-paced city life, people often lose sight of their relationship with the universe, stating, 'It never gets dark in the city.'
In addition to her rituals, Henes was a teacher, authoring several books, including 'Celestially Auspicious Occasions,' and performing custom-made spiritual ceremonies.
