A Famous Churchill Portrait, Stolen in Canada and Found in Italy
Briefly

A maintenance worker at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier hotel discovered that the Winston Churchill portrait was actually a decoy, leading to an international investigation.
The Ottawa Police Service confirmed that they had tracked down the stolen portrait of Winston Churchill in Italy and intended to retrieve it soon.
The theft was linked to a man from northern Ontario who was arrested and faced charges including theft and forgery related to the portrait.
The original portrait, which had been a part of Yousuf Karsh's legacy, had been replaced by a poor fake with a forged signature.
