After discovering a gold graduation ring lost almost 50 years ago in the ocean, Alex Davis, a diving instructor in Barbados, sought to return it to its owner.
The ring, which belonged to a McMaster University graduate from 1965 and featured a garnet stone, was uncovered after Mr. Davis's metal detector signaled its presence.
Mr. Davis described his excitement of finding the ring as akin to Smeagol's experience with the One Ring, illustrating the treasure-like moment and his connection to the discovery.
Davis discovered the initials 'FMP' inside the ring, leading him to contact McMaster University's alumni association in hopes of reuniting it with its rightful owner.
