US-EAST-1 is not unreliable says AWS Compute boss
Briefly

Dave Brown notes that US-EAST-1 is under scrutiny for its outages, but he emphasizes its resilience and massive scale with hundreds of data centers, including several availability zones and local zones.
The Graviton CPUs that AWS promotes as cost-efficient were first tested in the Nitro cards, which offload networking and security tasks, freeing servers for essential workloads, and have evolved into SmartNICs and Data Processing Units.
The Nitro hardware, now in its fifth or sixth generation, has been diversified into various form factors, including those suitable for Outposts by AWS for edge or on-premises clouds.
