The article discusses the challenges and failures that can arise when transitioning to a serverless architecture in the cloud. Despite the initial ease of implementation, issues often surface once the service is in production, primarily due to a lack of understanding of the extensive documentation and patterns of cloud architecture. The author, Anahit, emphasizes the importance of acknowledging failures in serverless setups rather than summarily rejecting cloud solutions. She encourages awareness and curiosity in identifying and addressing these failures.
...everything just works like magic, because that's what serverless is. So much so that you decide to go to production with it. Of course, all of a sudden, hell breaks loose.
Purely statistically speaking, we might consider that the problem is not necessarily the cloud or the cloud provider, maybe not even the services or the architecture that you have built.
Anything that can go wrong will go wrong, and at the worst possible time.
I hope that this talk helps you to become a little bit more aware and curious, maybe to spot patterns that others don't necessarily see.
