Rackspace moving some of its own workloads off VMware
Briefly

Rackspace is shifting workloads from VMware to Platform9's Private Cloud Director (PCD) in response to increasing software costs under new Broadcom licensing. Justin Kuss, Rackspace's VP of Product, emphasized the necessity for more cost-effective operations. This move involves migrating approximately 50 virtual machines (VMs) with the aid of Platform9’s vJailbreak, an automation tool for VMware migrations, which significantly reduces migration costs. Rackspace maintains ongoing relations with Broadcom and continues to provide hosted VMware services.
We are cognizant of changes in licensing and what that means for us. What we are looking at is to run our infrastructure as efficiently as possible.
vJailbreak is designed to automate migrations away from VMware, and can do so for considerably less than the $300 to $3,000 per VM recently suggested.
