The Linux Containers team has announced long-term support releases of Incus 6.0 "containervisor" and LXC 6.0, with Incus being a less Ubuntu-integrated fork of LXD guided by the original lead developer Stéphane Graber.
Incus developers removed dependencies on Canonical's internal tech and upgraded to align with kernel 6.2+, while LXC 6.0 simplified its structure, ditched Upstart, switched to libdbus-1 for D-Bus communication, and enabled IPv6 support by default.
