Weltevree and the Kroller-Muller Museum Put a Bench in Motion
"“The Wheelbench is an invitation to be active, to explore your world the way you want, time and time again,”"
"“The Kröller-Müller Museum is a beloved place in nature. Here, almost in our backyard, you are left with the basics (nature and yourself). This makes the artworks even more powerful,”"
"“With the new metal version of the Wheelbench, we have an indestructible product that invites you to stroll to the most beautiful spots in the sculpture garden.”"
Rogier Martens designed the Wheelbench as a movable bench originally rendered in oak, featuring a built-in wheel that allows a single person to reposition seating without assistance. The Kröller-Müller Edition is fabricated in aluminum for durability, lightness, and weather resistance and is finished in a sunshine-yellow hue with a color-matched wheel hub. Illustrated stickers by Sue Doeksen depict artworks from the sculpture garden so users can personalize the bench. Installed in the museum’s natural sculpture garden, the bench creates a portable, personal place to rest and collect memories of art and place.
