"From small nooks to expansive spaces, the cliffs turned into my workshop to make forts and experiment with making. Scavenged pieces of wood became my medium from a very early age."
"It is a vulnerable and empathetic process, one where you adjust to the client's initial reactions. Actively molding the idea to meet a position that allows both parties to move forward is a wildly exciting experience."
Tyler Kobick, a licensed architect and contractor, began exploring his creativity in daycare and through the natural landscape near his childhood home in Ohio. His experiences included building a rock climbing wall, an apprenticeship with a stone mason, and starting his own construction company at 16. In 2010, he founded Design Draw Build in Oakland, California, focusing on adaptive reuse and multi-family housing while valuing material culture. Kobick enjoys the collaborative and vulnerable nature of pitching ideas to clients.
