"The building reads as a continuous mass, its surfaces folded and inclined, with each plane catching light differently across the day, creating a dynamic visual experience."
"Each volume feels placed in relation to another to build a sense of density and continuity across the site, evoking a narrative of a monastery from a time before a reset of the world."
"Thick walls and abrupt angles reinforce a sense of separation and threshold, while brick planes sculpturally tilt, fold, and intersect, creating moments where the building reads as both solid and cut."
Monologue Café, designed by SOSOKKI ANAC, features a series of angular brick volumes that rise from the ground in a deliberate manner. The structure appears as a continuous mass, with surfaces that catch light differently throughout the day. Its design avoids a fixed viewpoint, allowing the café to shift in profile as visitors move around it. The interior spaces are characterized by pale surfaces and filtered light, with sloped walls guiding movement and creating varied atmospheres within the café.
