""Different explanations exist, with the most powerful one leaning toward ecological factors. Blue is liked because it is reminiscent of clear water and blue sky, all very positive natural phenomena," Domicele Jonauskaite, an experimental color psychologist at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, said in a statement shared with Travel + Leisure. "Other experiences are more personal. For instance, in cultures where red carries celebratory significance or where lavender fields dominate the landscape, these associations might weigh more strongly in shaping preferences.""
"The world is full of color, and art supply giant Crayola set out to find which is the perfect shade for travelers. The colorful honor belongs to cerulean, which won over travelers across the globe with its sky blue and aqua vibes during Crayola's first-ever Global Color Vote, according to the company. In total, people from more than 183 countries voted to pick the top three colors."
Crayola's Global Color Vote collected responses from people in more than 183 countries to determine travelers' favorite shades. Cerulean won the global vote and claimed the top spot in 46 of 50 U.S. states. Survey results showed a global preference for blues and blue-greens over oranges or yellows, a tendency toward lighter rather than darker colors, and a draw to more saturated shades. Regional differences appeared: Mexico and Spain favored lavender, Italy chose sky blue, and the Philippines selected blue. Ecological associations, like clear water and blue skies, and cultural experiences help explain color preferences. Travel destinations featuring vivid blues include Chefchaouen, Jodhpur, and Santorini.
