Henry Schile's prints, although often considered crude in conception, composition, drawing, and lithography, reflected the 'melting pot' of America and were undoubtedly American in spirit, tailored for immigrants' convenience.
His works were characterized by their large folio size, predominantly on heavy black paper but also on various paper types, displaying crude coloring. Despite criticism for being among the worst lithographers, Schile's prints possessed a genuine lithographic spirit.
