""I like when design is rooted in a system but allows room for personal expression," Severin shares. "Working with rugs is like sketching a new geography for a room - you influence how people move, how they perceive scale and surfaces. I like the idea that a rug can either enhance a space or create a deliberate break within it.""
"Teklan has an affinity for stripes, but with Diagonal, she rotates the familiar motif and introduces a simple contour to create movement and depth across the floor. The design comes in a bold blue-and-burgundy combination, as well as a warmer sand-toned option. Drawing from her experience with spatial installations, Labyrinth is designed like a maze for the eye to wander through."
Tekla Evelina Severin (Teklan) partnered with Swedish interior brand LAYERED on Teklan Collection 2025, a series of 100% wool rugs that explore color, geometry, and perception. The collection presents three core patterns—Diagonal, Labyrinth, and Fregio—each offered in two carefully considered colorways. Diagonal rotates a familiar striped motif and adds a contour to generate movement and floor depth, available in bold blue-and-burgundy or warmer sand tones. Labyrinth uses clean lines and transitions to produce a maze-like visual journey, offered in coral-and-pink or mulberry-and-sand and referencing Carlo Scarpa’s La Tomba Brion. The designs balance systemic structure with room for personal expression.
