SHED/HOUSE / Side Angle Side
Briefly

The Shed/House, located in central Texas, mimics a shed's silhouette to blend into its agricultural surroundings. This architectural design showcases a linear plan through six rectangles, transitioning from public to private spaces. The residence features large glass doors for optimal views and passive cooling, shaded by an 8' porch roof to block summer light while welcoming winter sun. Inspired by abandoned sheds, the design emphasizes minimalism and intentional misalignments, echoing the characteristics of deteriorated structures. Ultimately, it serves as a family retreat that harmonizes with the Texas Hill Country scenery.
These intended misalignments are also meant to reflect the misalignments caused by rack and ruin found in the abandoned sheds.
The house then extrudes from this silhouette into a linear plan organized by six rectangles that are a progression of public to private space.
