Photography Lighting Equipment: The Essential Guide
Briefly

While photography lighting might seem complicated, it's actually pretty easy to get started - assuming you have the right teacher. This article aims to share all the photoshoot lighting basics to provide a strong understanding of studio lighting equipment and vocabulary.
Strobes are the most common studio light used by professionals, offering varying power outputs and being available as battery-powered models. Continuous lights, like LED lights, which are increasingly popular, serve a similar function but operate as high-powered constant lamps. Flashguns, mounted on cameras, offer portability in lighting setups.
Continuous lights are sometimes referred to as hotlights due to their heat production, particularly with modifiers close to the bulb posing a fire hazard. LED lights, however, do not present the same risk. Understanding these distinctions is critical for safer usage in photography setups.
