Old Fongshan City Wall Historic Route / MAYU architects
Briefly

The Old City of Fongshan County is the oldest preserved walled city in Taiwan and reflects over two centuries of socio-economic change. An elevated walkway was implemented to regenerate the site while maintaining a minimal visual and physical footprint. The walkway's design varies along the city wall to respond to differing programmatic and contextual needs, providing access and enabling modern exploration. The project integrates multiple design elements into a single linear structure that adapts to site conditions. The approach preserves historic fabric by minimizing intrusion and providing a contemporary circulation layer that connects, interprets, and activates the urban edge.
