Negative results from the CFIA's testing of 600 retail milk samples mean that HPAI fragments are not present in Canadian milk. This supports the absence of the virus in Canadian dairy cows, as reported.
HPAI has been identified in dairy herds in 12 U.S. states, but the pasteurization process in Canada is effective against the virus. However, the CFIA's PCR tests can still detect remnants.
