Martin Molin, Swedish multi-instrumentalist and member of Wintergatan, is crafting a Renaissance-inspired Marble Machine 3 after previous iterations. Unlike its predecessors, this machine will be portable for touring. Molin livestreams the CAD process on YouTube, sharing intricate design elements influenced by Leonardo da Vinci's mechanics. The MM3 will utilize birch plywood, housing a foot-pedal-powered Huygens system to ensure smooth marble juggling. The design includes a single programming wheel, functioning as the brain of the machine, to enable continuous music playback, enhancing its captivating musical performance.
The one that he is now building is a Renaissance-inspired marble machine, he says, 'that Leonardo da Vinci would have designed.'
According to the video, the MM3 as it is sweetly called, is a more compact option for the publicly displayed second iteration.
The new machine would use birch plywood to make the components and may feature a foot-pedal-powered Huygens weight system that would juggle the marbles.
Molin in his video notes that the single programming wheel on the machine will function as its brain, ensuring continuous music playback.
