Macabre wax models take limelight in Florence museum
Briefly

La Specola, the Imperial and Royal Museum of Physics and Natural History, reopened after a renovation, displaying classic wax anatomical models central to scientific studies in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The museum's renovations, backed by €6m funding, expanded its collection showcases, including unique wax models crafted by master artists such as Gaetano Giulio Zumbo and Clemente Susini.
Despite a closure for restoration and delays due to the pandemic, La Specola maintained a presence with temporary displays, including collaborations with other museums and a guest exhibition in Milan.
