"Ceramic is a timeless medium appreciated for its utility and beauty, seen throughout history as ancient vessels for holding grains, trinket trays for collecting keepsakes, and objects giving shape to water - a fixture within tea and coffee culture too. Wedgwood has been creating heirloom quality pieces from this storied material since 1759, leveraging centuries of wisdom, expertise, and new technologies."
"Celebrating the sensibilities of the humble vessel, the Wedgwood x JW Anderson mug sets feature marvelously ribbed matte bodies that give way to expansive glossy insides, offering a contrast in tone and finish. The rounded handle sits high on the form in both an ergonomic and stylistic choice. Each mug is a testament to the craftsmanship of ancient artisans, realized through Wedgwood's time-honored process."
"Six colors grace the JW Anderson mugs - each as part of a pair, more sisters than twins. Yellows, browns, and blues form a balanced palette, made especially fun when swapping out mates. Canary/Mimosa, Saxon/Wedgwood Blue, and Black/Chocolate all find their rightful place within the scheme. Wedgwood and JW Anderson worked with the estate of Lucie Rie, renowned for her use of sgraffito and celebrating imperfection, to bring to life two previously unreleased designs."
Wedgwood and JW Anderson produced a limited-edition ceramic collection combining historic craftsmanship, contemporary design, and archived works. The run includes previously unreleased Lucie Rie designs and mugs selected from Jonathan Anderson's collection inspired by 5th century Greek pottery. The mugs feature ribbed matte exteriors and glossy interiors, with a high, rounded handle for ergonomic and stylistic effect. Six paired colorways—Canary/Mimosa, Saxon/Wedgwood Blue, and Black/Chocolate among them—encourage mixing and matching. Collaboration with the Lucie Rie estate yielded a Light Blue Tea Cup & Saucer decorated with four concentric white rings, reflecting sgraffito techniques and an embrace of imperfection.
