"I'm good at making things look pretty, is what I've learned."
"I'm constantly changing what we have,"
"It's the nature of being a creative person. Obviously, the good pieces are staying, but I'm still reupholstering some things and rearranging rooms."
Lauren Williams Russett brings a background in fashion, retail, and interior design to a complete reimagining of a six-level 1850s Anglo-Italianate brownstone in Cobble Hill. Historical plaster moldings and tin ceilings remain alongside fresh white oak flooring and millwork for a balanced old-meets-new aesthetic. Large three-story glazing introduced at the rear floods interiors with natural light and connects gathering spaces to the backyard. Pale green Calacatta Monet marble anchors the street-level eat-in kitchen. Layers of colorful textiles and art create a cheerful, personal atmosphere, and furniture is regularly reupholstered and rearranged to support evolving styling and a resident-curated exhibition.
