"At first glance, the large buildings in Grentschel appear to be randomly scattered across the valley floor. However, the unassuming Grentschel stream actually plays an organizing role. Each building volume is oriented to the course of the stream and positioned parallel to it. The project adopts this logic, resulting in a relaxed ensemble with fluid outdoor spaces."

Grentschel School Extension places several large building volumes across a valley floor that at first glance appear randomly scattered. The unassuming Grentschel stream functions as the primary organizing element for the site. Each building volume is oriented to follow the course of the stream and is positioned parallel to it. This orientation creates a relaxed ensemble of structures and produces fluid outdoor spaces between volumes. The parallel placement enhances visual continuity and supports movement corridors aligned with the watercourse. The layout integrates built form with landscape, emphasizing site-specific responses and a calm, coherent spatial sequence.
