Growing up in India, the design ethos is characterized by maximalism and vibrant visuals. However, after relocating to the Netherlands in 2019, a stark contrast in UX design preferences became evident. The initial challenges included my portfolio, which was too bold and loud for the Dutch market. To adapt, I toned down my designs and embraced minimalism, learning to express my ideas within the new cultural context. This experience compelled a vital transformation in my creative approach and professional journey.
Born and raised in India, I come from a world where more is more; loud, vibrant designs are the norm in a crowded, attention-grabbing market.
Moving to the Netherlands in 2019, I was unprepared for the cultural shift in UX design, where minimalism reigns over maximalism.
Initially, my cluttered and bold designs failed to resonate with Dutch companies, prompting me to adapt and embrace a more minimalistic approach in my work.
The transformation in my design ethos reflects a significant adaptation process, balancing my background with the preferences of my new environment.
