"One of the main attributes of Club Hipico de Santiago, which differentiates it from most racetracks in Latin America in addition to its remarkable architectural heritage, inherited from the architect Josue Smith Solar is its magnificent 1,200-meter-long grass track. A team of 30 gardeners works there daily, completely exposed to the sun throughout the day, stopping their work at noon to have lunch and rest under the shade."
A 60 m pavilion completed in 2021 at Club Hipico de Santiago supports landscape maintenance and wellbeing for grounds staff. The project is led by Jose Ignacio Valdivieso Tagle with collaborators Pedro Del Rio and Ignacio Rojas, and construction by Mauricio Bravo / Constructora KBT with structural calculation by Gonzalo Concha. Materials include products from Arauco, Ceramica Santiago and Cubiertas Nacionales. The site features a 1,200-meter grass track and a team of 30 gardeners who work exposed to sun daily, pausing at noon to eat and rest in shade.
