Dutch museum aims for improved accessibility with launch of short form captions
Briefly

Kunstmuseum Den Haag has launched an exhibition focusing on Christian Dior, enhancing accessibility by providing simplified captions and diverse tour options to engage a wider audience.
'It has got a very positive reaction,' says Margriet Schavermaker. 'If you can't read so well, there is also an app tour, and an audio tour is a work in progress. We want to connect with people in different ways.'
Madelief Hohé, the exhibition's curator, points out that 'my experience is that fashion attracts more people and younger people than the general art exhibition.' She believes fashion is less intimidating.
The initiative is timely, following new government policies including a hike in VAT for cultural activities, aiming to keep engagement with the arts as accessible as possible.
