Coastal Dwelling represents an architectural response to a challenging 15 x 40 meter site along Hermanus's rugged coastline. The design is fundamentally anchored in geology and horizon, directly engaging with its elemental context of mountain backdrops and southern ocean views. Completed in 2024, the 680 square meter project demonstrates how architecture can be conceived as an integrated response to landscape conditions. The design approach prioritizes the relationship between built form and natural environment, utilizing materials from manufacturers including Gassner, Go Green, and Oggie Flooring. The project exemplifies site-specific architectural thinking that honors both the physical constraints and visual opportunities of its coastal location.
