Bodo Sperlein and GAN Translate Botanical Beauty Into Textiles
Briefly

The Botanica rug collection by Bodo Sperlein for GAN incorporates natural forms, textures, and materials to enhance interior spaces. Inspired by flora and fungi, Botanica displays intricate patterns and organic designs that create a harmony with nature. The collection is available in three colorways and features layered textures and varying pile heights, mimicking the soft undulations found in botanical forms. Each rug combines hand-tufting and carving techniques to achieve depth and fluidity, showcasing the quality of artisan-made textiles and aligning with the biophilic design ethos.
The design of Botanica is inspired by the organic forms and textures found in nature, particularly in flora and fungi. Their intricate structures, soft curves, and layered elements are the basis of the design of this collection, with which I have tried to reflect the beauty and complexity of the natural world.
Botanica features layer upon layer of organic patterned material, embodying flower and fungi alike, marrying craft and organicism in a visually striking and tactile way.
