Bird flu virus detected in California raw milk
Briefly

California health officials confirmed the H5N1 bird flu virus was found in a retail sample of raw milk from Raw Farm, prompting a voluntary recall of affected products.
So far, there have been no reports of illness related to the milk recall, despite the virus being detected in a child showing mild respiratory symptoms.
The CDC revealed that while a significant number of H5N1 cases in California are dairy workers, investigations ruled out infected dairy as a source for a child case.
Mark McAfee stated that since initiating voluntary testing in April, all tests on Raw Farm's milk have returned negative, despite wider outbreaks occurring in California's dairy herds.
