Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack emphasized that expanded testing will foster confidence among farmers and farmworkers regarding the health safety of their animals and themselves.
The required sharing of raw milk samples will facilitate effective contact tracing and disease surveillance, crucial components in the fight against H5N1.
With the initial round of testing set for mid-December, six states will participate, including those with previously infected herds as well as others without reported cases.
