'American African' identity is explored by U.S. artist with Ghanaian/Nigerian roots
Briefly

As someone from a Congolese family in Nashville, I often questioned whether I identify more as African American or American African, conflicted by my experiences.
While I deeply admire the sense of community in Congo, my visits reveal that I am perceived more as an American, not fully belonging to the culture.
I felt at peace within the African American community in Nashville, yet I feared being judged for not being 'Black enough' due to my background.
Okokon's Touch Products exhibit exemplifies the intertwining of American and African identities, as each art piece reflects both his American upbringing and African heritage.
