VAST Data adds block storage support and event broking
Briefly

VAST Data has enhanced its platform by adding support for block access and Apache Kafka APIs, paving the way for seamless block storage and event streaming functionalities. This update allows for a massive scale of operations, supporting 32,000 NVMe subsystems and one million volume elements. The user-friendly setup enables administrators to quickly configure block protocols. Furthermore, the new event broker functionality facilitates real-time data processing, which is vital for AI applications, boasting performance rates that exceed traditional Kafka implementations by over ten times, thus addressing inefficiencies in data pipelines and streamlining processes.
According to VAST Data, the event broker offers more than ten times better performance than traditional Kafka implementations, with the ability to process more than 500 million messages per second.
Co-founder Jeff Denworth states that with this, his company is eliminating "decades of data pipeline inefficiencies and event streaming complexity."
