Force-controlled release of small molecules with a rotaxane actuator - Nature
Briefly

Interlocked molecules like rotaxanes can serve as force actuators due to their significant movement capability. They have been utilized for creating force sensors and affecting the mechanical reactivity of mechanophores within them.
Rotaxanes are proposed to release several small-molecule cargoes sequentially by applying force to trigger scission of covalent bonds. This design involves a macrocycle pulled towards cargo molecules along the axle to promote their release.
