Datadog has announced the acquisition of Metaplane, a start-up focusing on AI-driven data observability, to expand its data observability products. Founded in 2019, Metaplane assists organizations in monitoring their data and detecting issues early. The platform is supported by several notable customers and aims to unify observability across applications and data. As data complexity grows, especially with AI applications, Datadog seeks to improve data management for businesses through this acquisition while Metaplane will continue operations under its original brand name.
"Observability is no longer just for developers and IT teams; it's now an essential part of data teams' day-to-day responsibilities as they manage increasingly complex and business-critical workflows," Datadog VP Michael Whetten said.
"Our mission at Metaplane is to help companies ensure trust in the data that powers their business," co-founder Kevin Hu said. "Joining forces with Datadog will allow us to enhance our capabilities in data observability."
