Broncos won the toss and elected to start on offense while the Cowboys began on defense. Dallas converted the turnover into three points as Brandon Aubrey kicked a 24-yard field goal. Denver responded when rookie RJ Harvey ran 40 yards for a touchdown. Bo Nix later connected with Troy Franklin on a 25-yard touchdown to extend the lead. Patrick Surtain left briefly with an injury but returned. Dallas committed pre-snap penalties and faced a 3rd-and-20 at the quarter's end.
