Eagles missed huge chance to close out the NFC East Inside The Star
"When Dallas fell to the Lions on Thursday night, it seemed like the last hope for the NFC East title for the Cowboys was fading. The only small slimmer remaining was a total collapse of the first-place Philadelphia Eagles that would allow Dallas to capture the division title. The Eagles were playing the Chargers on Monday night. But their quarterback, Justin Herbert, was coming off surgery on his non-throwing hand. A Philadelphia win seemed likely."
"Especially when the Eagles went up 19-16 late in the game. Somehow, the Chargers rallied back. Cameron Dicker booted a field goal to send the game into overtime and another to take the lead in overtime. Then Jalen Hurts, on the doorstep of no worse than a tying field goal, threw his fourth interception. The Eagles lost. The Cowboys are still in the hunt."
Dallas remains mathematically alive for the NFC East after Philadelphia's overtime loss to the Chargers. Jalen Hurts' fourth interception in overtime and two Cameron Dicker field goals gave the Chargers the win. The Cowboys sit 1.5 games behind and must win out to overtake the Eagles. Remaining Cowboys opponents include the Chargers, Vikings, Commanders and Giants, with the Chargers likely the toughest test. Dak Prescott must play flawlessly and the Cowboys' defense must improve significantly after the loss to Detroit. The Eagles still have a favorable schedule, including two games against the struggling Commanders.
