The Dallas Cowboys have been active in the offseason, focusing on building a new coaching staff following the exit of head coach Mike McCarthy. They quickly appointed Brian Schottenheimer as the new head coach and secured key coordinators, including Matt Eberflus for the defense and Nick Sorensen for special teams. Executive vice president Stephen Jones praised Eberflus for his defensive acumen, noting his experience will greatly assist Schottenheimer, who is a first-time head coach facing new challenges in this critical transition period for the team.
Both those guys are outstanding coaches in this league. Obviously, Eberflus is recognized as one of the best defensive minds in the league...his defenses are always at the tops in terms of where his defenses rank, whether it's total yards, whether it's [points] allowed, whether it's turnovers, all the things that are key to winning football games.
Of course, Coach Schottenheimer, being a first-time head coach, I think that's all the more important...he knows the pros that come with it, and he also knows the challenges.
