David Duchovny hosts 'Secrets Declassified with David Duchovny,' premiering on April 4, exploring genuine government cover-ups like Area 51. While the show delves into conspiracy theories, Duchovny emphasizes that many are simply unrealistic with mundane explanations behind them. Unlike his 'X-Files' character Fox Mulder, who seeks to believe, Duchovny approaches these stories with skepticism, finding more truth in the history of actual government actions rather than elaborate conspiracy narratives. He finds the real stories surprising yet often mundane, undermining the common allure of conspiracy theories found online.
"We live in this age of, everything is a conspiracy theory. I thought, how interesting that these are actual declassified stories that - if they're not conspiracies - some of them were done under cover, or out of the eye of the public," Duchovny, 64, exclusively told The Post.
"But, it shows how ridiculous some of these actual conspiracies are," added Duchovny.
"Mostly because they are true. I find most of the conspiracy theories on the internet not interesting because to me they're so obviously not true and the result of kind of lazy thinking and the need for a bad guy," he stated.
"On the show, it's usually a group of people who are really trying to do a good thing, but going about it all the wrong way," Duchovny explained.
