During Strategy World 2025, Michael Saylor urged tech companies like Microsoft to forego stock buybacks in favor of investing in Bitcoin, highlighting its superior performance. He pointed out that while Microsoft stocks have grown 18% annually over five years, Bitcoin has surged by 62%. Saylor claims Bitcoin is not only a better investment but a fundamentally innovative asset, comparing it to a digital building that is invisible and immortal. He argued that Microsoft should leverage its digital infrastructure by adopting digital capital to enhance shareholder value.
"If the cost of capital is the S&P 500 at 14%, Microsoft is outperforming by 4%. Bitcoin is outperforming by 48%," Saylor emphasized.
"It's digital capital. Everything digital is better. Digital pictures are better... Don't believe me? Ask Kodak. Ask Polaroid."
"Everything you hate about a physical building... goes away. Instead, the building becomes invisible, indestructible, immortal, and teleportable."
"Microsoft should be powered by digital capital," he said plainly.
