Bybit, a cryptocurrency exchange, has initiated a bounty program to recover $1.5 billion in Ethereum stolen by the Lazarus cybercrime group. CEO Ben Zhou stated that they aim to eliminate bad actors and have already disbursed over $4 million in rewards. The program offers a 5% reward for anyone who detects and reports blockchain transactions linked to the theft. Zhou also plans to set up a broader HackBounty platform to involve the entire industry in combating such cyber threats, emphasizing the need for a united defense against hacking.
In the future we will open it up to other victims of Lazarus as well.
This can be a transformative moment for our industry if we get it right.
