A tuberculosis outbreak in the Kansas City area has raised concerns among local health authorities. Beginning in January 2024, it has led to 67 active cases and 79 latent cases as of January 24, 2025, resulting in two fatalities. Most cases are concentrated in Wyandotte County. TB transmission occurs primarily among symptomatic individuals, and a significant portion of the population worldwide carries latent TB without symptoms.
