Post-Labor Day poses new COVID risk for California. Will the wave get worse?

With COVID transmission elevated across most of the country, there’s a not-insignificant risk of exposure as Americans travel in record numbers this Labor Day.
This is, unfortunately, a prime weekend to potentially come down with something, especially with many California schoolchildren having already returned to school.
There’s real risks of getting in contact with someone else who has COVID, as people are traveling even more post-pandemic than before.
A lot of people that I know get COVID actually coming back from a trip, highlighting the significant exposure risk associated with travel.
